If you, or your organisation, has an idea for a project which will enhance Chislehurst, and which needs funding, please consider applying to us for a grant which can help turn your ideas into reality. All the information you need is below.

The Society will consider making grants to support projects by organisations, groups or individuals based in and around Chislehurst where these align with the Society’s objectives.

Applying for a Grant

For a grant to be considered, an must be submitted to The Chislehurst Society.

Funding applications are considered and evaluated by our Grants Sub–Committee using the four criteria below:

  1. The proposed project addresses at least one of The Society’s objectives ie the project has:
    1. an educational benefit - the proposed project will improve understanding about Chislehurst;
    2. an environmental benefit - the proposed project will assist in conserving and/or improving the environment;
    3. historic significance - the proposal increases knowledge about our past or preserves assets of historical significance.
  2. The project is clearly defined, with a clear budget and a clear end product - only in exceptional circumstances will the Society fund “open-ended” projects. The Society does not provide ongoing (revenue) funding for costs such as staffing, maintenance and repair.
  3. The applicant is contributing, and/or other sources of funding have been explored.
  4. The applicant can demonstrate value for money.

Note to successful applicants: the Chislehurst Society is happy to fund deserving projects that meet the above criteria. Once the project has been completed, we will require:

  • formal confirmation that the grant has been appropriately used for the agreed purpose;
  • a short report, and, where possible:
  • photograph(s) of the outcome;
  • acknowledgement of the support provided by the Chislehurst Society (eg a notice/plaque).
