Did you know your membership subscription or donation to The Chislehurst Society could be worth 25% more—at no extra cost to you?

FAQ: What is Gift Aid and how does it work?

Q: What is Gift Aid?
A: Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows charities to claim an extra 25% on your donation or membership fee—at no additional cost to you. If you're a UK taxpayer, simply ticking the Gift Aid box means The Chislehurst Society can receive more support from your contribution.

Q: Do I qualify for Gift Aid?
A: You qualify if you pay at least as much in UK Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax as the amount we will claim on your donations. Other taxes like VAT and Council Tax don’t count.

Q: How do I make a Gift Aid declaration?
A: Just tick the Gift Aid box on the membership form and provide your name and address. If you're already a member, you can submit a Gift Aid declaration separately using the link provided on this page.

Q: Can I cancel my Gift Aid declaration?
A: Yes, you can cancel it at any time. Just contact us and let us know. It’s also important to inform us if your tax status changes.

Important: Gift Aid can also be applied retrospectively to your membership payments from the past four years, provided you’ve paid enough UK Income or Capital Gains Tax during that time. This means your past support can go even further. If you have not paid tax in the UK during the last four years, please do not use the online form below. Instead, contact our office directly so we can guide you through the correct process.

Thank you for helping us preserve and promote Chislehurst’s heritage.
