Q. Does the building that housed Harry Beasley’s Cranmore Museum still exist in Chislehurst and do you happen to know whether any printed catalogues may survive?

Cranmore Ethnographical Museum in 1933

Cranmore Place is the building you refer to. It was designed by local architect Joseph Moye, and built around 1880. It was destroyed by bombing during the war, and no longer exists.  It had an interesting history, being owned by Nathanial Strode, the man who kept Camden Place ready as a bolt hole for the French Emperor, Napoleon III. The Beasley collection survived the war, but it has been broken up and is now at various museums, mainly in the UK. We have not seen any catalogues. A drawing of the exterior of the house from The Architect in 1880 is reproduced below.
