Q. Some fifty years ago I worked as a very young man in a shop on Burlington Parade, Chislehurst. The number of the shop was 62-64, High Street and it was named Barkway & Clark. They were decorators merchants and sold items such as paint & wallpaper.

I remember both of my employers very well and Mr Barkway’s first name was Sydney. I am wondering if there is anybody at the society who would know the first name of Mr Clark, he was known to everybody as Nobby. Mr Clark was a retired Policeman and had worked at Chislehurst Police Station. He later aquired another shop at Mottingham and I wonder if anyone can remember the name of this shop and it’s location. I believe it was on Mottingham Road.

I am researching all of the places I have worked at during my lifetime. I would be grateful of any help to answer my queries. Kind regards, David Terry.
