Co-op and Eltham College support local care homes

Today, with the help of senior students from Eltham College, the Chislehurst Society delivered care packages; treats, flowers, magazines and artwork to the seven residential homes in Chislehurst.

Following our previous experience back in the original lockdown, we felt it important not to forget the hard work of the staff in our local care homes. As visitors are not allowed, the staff have shouldered the additional role of supporting the mental well-being of the residents as well as seeing to their physical needs.

Back in March we approached Sainsburies for donations, this time, trustee Gabriella Toth asked both local Co-op’s to come up with the goods. Belmont Lane and Whitehorse Hill stores offered supplies and we topped up with seasonal poinsettia and gift bags.

The students at Eltham College created plenty of art work and are now working on Zoom quizzes and on line concert as we approach Christmas.
The staff who we were able to meet on the doorsteps were very grateful and indeed tearful at being remembered.

We wish everyone well and hope for a more accessible 2021.
