How can you support the Society?

Jones Awards winnersThe Society is a charity, and entirely dependent on support from its members and the general public.

We pride ourselves on being among the largest civic societies or amenity groups in the UK; our membership stands at around 3,500.

Membership fees

These have been kept low at £5 per household (£3 where the head of the household is 65 or over, or £6 for postal members), so that they are affordable. Members receive free copies of the Chislehurst Report and The Cockpit, and can attend and vote at our Annual General Meeting. Members can also attend our various functions.

You do not need to be resident in Chislehurst to be a member; you can be a postal member, as are many people around the world. For postal members we charge £6 per annum, a modest additional amount to cover postage costs.

If you wish to become a member, click here for our online membership application. You can also contact us by phone or post if you prefer.

If you sign up online, you will get the remainder of the first year's membership free of charge*

Donations and bequests

We are also pleased to accept donations and bequests, and if you would like to talk to us about giving to us to support our work, then please contact us, so that we can discuss the most effective means of doing this. We can advise on gift aid arrangements, and on appropriate wording if you are drawing up a will.

*The Society year runs from 1 January to 31 December. The earlier you join, the better the value!
